The KALTech Group is currently celebrating its milestone 10-year anniversary. Over that time, the Australian company has grown from a single office in Melbourne to an international powerhouse with seven locations across the world. KALTech shares its recipe for success over the past decade and how it’s celebrating the momentous occasion.

Offering specialised services and operating in niche markets, SAP partner KALTech Group is based in Melbourne and has offices in New Zealand, India and South Africa. With a focus on the core modules of HR/Payroll and Finance, they also cover Portals and Self Service, security and GRC, data management, mobility, Travel Management and Organisational Charting.
KALTech has experienced a steady rate of growth since they first opened their doors in 2003.
In 2007 KALTech expanded its global footprint by opening a regional office for Asia in Chennai, India. In 2011, the company moved into Sydney and Auckland, followed by offices in Johannesburg, South Africa and Bangalore, India in 2012. A third Indian office in Hyderabad has just opened.
CEO Dr Calvin Kally says KALTech is very selective in its approach, choosing to seek out clients that will benefit from their services. The company has built its reputation progressively by providing quality work.
“Once we delivered for our first clients, we leveraged our successes locally and internationally, and approached others.
Our products and solutions have assisted in simplifying SAP and we rescued a few projects once we got involved,” he says.
KALTech’s successful expansion in these international markets is considered one of the company’s most notable achievements since its inception, and they’re not slowing down any time soon – the company will soon be expanding into Singapore/Malaysia and the Middle East.
“We are aware of many growth areas for SAP and recent discussions with SAP Singapore have identified some markets we are considering. We are seeing good growth across Africa and recently we were asked by a partner to open in Europe to support some large projects for them,” says Kally.
Reflecting on the company’s track record, Kally cites as other outstanding achievements the successful delivery of numerous large projects in Australia and overseas, and KALTech’s involvement in water purification systems and building medical centres as part of its social responsibility programs across the globe, which currently benefit 250,000 people.
Kally says gaining the loyalty of clients from across the government, retail, manufacturing, insurance, utilities, mining, telecommunications and education sectors that believe in KALTech and its ‘value for money’ approach has also been a proud achievement for the company.
To mark its 10th anniversary, the company has planned various celebrations involving customers, staff and business partners, the first of which was a celebration at the Melbourne office on 3 June.
“There were tokens of appreciation for the customers that have contributed to our success, especially for a loyal customer of over six years,” says Kally.
With 10 years in the market under their belt, KALTech’s team has a good grasp of the trends and challenges clients are facing in the ecosystem. At the moment cloud, mobility and data privacy are under the spotlight, says Kally.
“Clients are grappling with cloud solutions, especially as we consult and advise on SuccessFactors,” he says. “Concerns over costs and data privacy always come up, and other clients want mobility but are unsure of the approach and costs.”
Kally and his team have also witnessed significant change for SAP over the last 10 years, including the growth and expanded offerings the vendor has experienced through its acquisitions; an increased use of SAP HR/Payroll and focus on SuccessFactors-type functionality; SAP’s acceptance in the SME space; more global projects; and more products and solutions being built around the SAP offering.
So what does the next 10 years hold for SAP? Kally predicts:
- A single, simplified user interface probably modelled on mobility platforms with voice-activated work packets.
- SAP being infused into common platforms such as social networking.
- Greater flexible reporting options based on transaction data, not via a separate database.
- Greater application integration within SAP and with non-SAP software.
- Merging of skillsets (functional, technical and operational) in a common skillset.
- SAP growing exponentially in emerging markets as they adopt better business practices.
