SAP has announced the latest release of SAP Business One is now generally available, which incorporates support for multiple branches or business units, new and enhanced business processes, and an updated user experience.
The new release is available for deployment on premise or in the cloud, and is powered by the SAP HANA platform.
Among the changes is the addition of support for resources within the production module, providing the ability for resource costs to be factored into overall product cost, and giving better visibility into resource capacity during production. Inventory can also be valued based on serial or batch number, enabling the calculation of profit margin on a specific number or batch.
By supporting multiple branches or business units, Business One enables companies to share relevant data across business units for more transparent reporting. This may be particularly useful for businesses such as retailers, which need a more holistic view to create better customer experience.
SAP has also updated the Business One user interface to make it easier for companies to customise their screens. The HANA-based version of the solution includes role-based work centres for finance, sales, purchasing and inventory, which leverage HTML5 for greater flexibility.
According to SAP, pre-set default values and simpler data upload in this release will also help to speed up implementation cycles.
More than 45,000 small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) now run SAP Business One.
