In July 2017, NSW Land Registry Services was privatized and is now owned by a consortium made up of First State Super, The Infrastructure Fund, the Royal Bank of Scotland and UTA Registry Investments Trust.

Acclimation, a SAP Consulting and Solution company based in Melbourne dealing exclusively in SAP and related technology, has migrated NSW Land Registry Services’ (LRS) ERP software to S/4 HANA using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

As part of Acclimation’s digital transformation drive and being a SAP Gold partner, the company together with SNP Group, upgraded NSWLRS’ SAP ECC for HR and pay roll, sales and distribution, procurement and asset management in over a six-month conversion period. The migration of the LRS’ 500 employees to S/4 HANA was completed in December 2018.

The need for a “cost-effective, fast and risk-free solution” for customer billing, procurement and payroll and other financial accounting are the critical factors considered in converting LRS’ existing on premises SAP ERP 6.0 system to S/4HANA and re-platform on AWS.

The agency’s land ownership registration systems’ full conversion included all historical data, data base change, Unicode conversion, selected configurations, interfaces, customizations. Acclimation claims that the successful full conversion from SAP ECC to S/4HANA, including a re-platform on the public cloud, was a first in Australia.

Michael Brockbank, Project Manager at Acclimation said that despite the “challenges along the way” the conversion resulted in “minimal downtime” for the LRS.

With regards to lodgment registrations and processing, NSW LRS Chief Information Officer Lesa Tobias explained “We have seen immediate performance improvements across common transactions such as sales orders, invoicing, payments and leave verifications. We have also eliminated many customized reports and are now taking advantage of the reports and insights available from S/4HANA.”

Tobias also shared how SNP contributed in the full conversion process utilizing its Bluefield approach that uses automated process scans to predict S/4HANA risks in advance. She explained “We were looking for a software solution that could address the challenges of a complex project to migrate, upgrade and enhance features and data in a single go-live project with a new optimized S/4 as well as adherence to the aggressive timeline targets associated with project of this magnitude.”

According to SNP and similar to Acclimation’s experience, the project is the “first next generation enterprise conversion in Australia that was orchestrated utilizing SNP Bluefield”.

SAP aims to double-down its cloud footprint in Australia by establishing a dedicated channel for the SAP Cloud portfolio in Australia, including SAP Business By Design, SAP SuccessFactors and SAP S/4HANA Cloud and the LRS conversion is one of the company’s many efforts.
