Straight off the back of its SAP certification for the NetWeaver technology platform, Revelation Software Concepts (RSC) recently announced that its Salt Apps set of mini-apps for SAP software-based information systems has achieved certification as a VMware-ready virtual appliance.
RSC – SAP software partner and creator of the Rev-Trac change control technology for use with SAP solutions – designed the application platform to run as a virtual appliance to drive the Salt Apps family to automate change control processes normally performed manually.
Specifically designed to make working with SAP easier, faster and more productive for SAP project team members, the Salt platform and Salt Apps are free for up to three SAP systems.
VMware’s highest level of endorsement for providing seamless host-system interoperability – VMware-ready certification – means Salt Apps have met the most rigorous testing and demanding standards for virtual appliances.
“As virtualisation becomes ever more important in the world of large enterprise systems, qualification as a virtual appliance by a company of VMware’s standing is extremely important to wide adoption,” said David Drake, CEO, RSC. “Salt is the first SAP-related software certified to follow best practices for virtual appliances under VMware’s standards for ready-to-run, best-in-class, production-ready solutions. The double SAP and VMware certifications make Salt Apps essential for teams managing SAP-based IT systems of any size.”
VMware delivers virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions such as VMware vSphere, which help customers to reduce capital and operating expenses, improve agility, ensure business continuity, strengthen security and go green, according to the company.
In 2010, VMware achieved revenues of $2.9 billion, working with 25,000 partners and more than 250,000 customers.
