SAP and Gen-i to offer mobile solutions to NZ business and government

By Eleanor Reader

SAP has announced its first strategic mobile management partnership in the Asia-Pacific region with IT services company, Gen-i.

The agreement sees both companies deliver Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions to New Zealand businesses and government.

A portfolio of 300 mobile applications will be offered by Gen-i for a range of business scenarios, including employee productivity and workflow, complex business processes and business to consumer engagement.

“In today’s increasingly mobile and data centric environment, our clients are looking seriously at mobility solutions and the benefits they can deliver to their organisations,” said Gen-i CEO, Tim Miles.

“This new partnership will enable us to leverage SAP’s expertise in applications technology and integration alongside our Smartphone Network and cloud capabilities, to offer end to end mobility solutions that are relevant to our market, and deliver real value to our clients.”

The new MaaS service is available on subscription basis and hosted in high resiliency, in-country data centres, with applications available on the iOS, Android, Windows and BlackBerry platforms.

“We are excited to be partnering with Gen-i to bring even greater value to our customers and our customers’ mobile users. Together we are unwiring business and empowering entire organisations to reach new consumers, improve core business processes and boost employee productivity,” said SAP president and managing director ANZ, Andrew Barkla.

Gen-i will also provide a custom application service through the wider mobile apps development community, the company stated, and partner Infosys will provide specialist support for installation of SAP’s managed mobile services into the Gen-i cloud, and systems integration where required.
