As a community of creative spaces globally, the SAP AppHaus Network aims to help SAP and partners develop valuable solutions by humanising business software and nurturing co-innovation. Members of the network focus on the end-user in all engagements, leveraging the full potential of SAP products and technologies such as SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) — the platform for the Intelligent Enterprise.
The SAP AppHaus Network has been driving co-innovation initiatives in several locations including Heidelberg, Berlin, New York, Palo Alto, and Seoul for more than eight years now. In November 2020, SAP AppHaus Seoul celebrated five years of customer engagements that have reinforced SAP’s position as an innovation partner in the region. Due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the SAP AppHaus Network turned workshops and customer projects into fully virtual experiences to ensure business continuity.
The global network has now grown to include 16 partners aiming to contribute significantly to the delivery of human-centered innovation to SAP customers throughout the world. This year, it has welcomed four additional partners namely: MIITTECH in China, Flexso in Belgium, Deloitte in Australia, and Datacom in New Zealand. With Datacom becoming the first member of SAP AppHaus Network in the country, Sunny Katira, Director of Application Services at Datacom New Zealand, expressed his delight at the announcement:
“At Datacom, we look for solutions for our clients’ needs and with the SAP AppHaus Network, we hope to open up a whole new way of working with our partners on solutions that really deliver for our customers.”
Located in Central Auckland, the new creative centre provides five modern and flexible workshop areas that are focused on experience design. There are also 15 meeting rooms available to accommodate a variety of specialisations and purposes. The SAP AppHaus Network aims to ensure that organisations using SAP solutions have access to creative spaces and innovation services across all regions.
Closer to home, SAP and Bourne Digital — the first SAP AppHaus Network member in the APJ region — launched the Bourne Digital Experience Design Centre in 2019. The creative space is the pioneer partner-run SAP AppHaus hub in Australia.
SAP AppHaus Network Unites SAP and Partners Across the Globe
Moreover, Phil Cameron, Managing Director at SAP New Zealand, noted that putting people at the centre of innovation processes is becoming increasingly important for businesses. Regarding the latest collaboration with Datacom, he further shared:
“We are excited to partner with Datacom on the launch of its centre in Tahi and to help energise, refresh and re-define how New Zealand organisations approach creativity and the end-user experience.”
Currently, the SAP AppHaus Network employs more than 5,400 staff, has so far welcomed 75,000 visitors, and conducted about 3,000 workshops that drive collaboration between SAP and partners to better serve their customers. Last April, the SAP AppHaus team started receiving project submissions from partners leveraging SAP BTP for its inaugural round of innovation awards.
Across two award categories, AppHaus partners NETCONOMY and ConvergentIS excelled among several remarkable innovation projects. In close collaboration with Douglas, NETCONOMY helped the German cosmetics and perfume retailer shorten its manual maintenance processes by building a machine learning (ML) -based solution that uses product images as the basis for product categorisation.
Meanwhile, ConvergentIS created a solution to help Canadian regulated electrical utility FortisAlberta Inc. create and distribute pick lists, as well as issue goods to maintenance field teams, faster and easier. The project has resulted in a 75% reduction in daily administrative work spent updating, sorting, and organising pick lists, as well as a 33% decrease in picking errors.
With this, Birgit Fien-Schmalzbauer, Global Head at SAP AppHaus Partner Network, believes the network continues to prosper and that the underlying values are proving their worth. She shared:
“Continuously growing, we are doing another important step toward our goal of bringing human-centered innovation closer to all customers across the globe.”
