In recent years, SAP has been supporting the digital transformation of asset-intensive industries through co-innovation and intelligent solutions– from establishing a new SAP Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Australia to developing solutions that focus on enhancing the external workforce and supplier contract management.
The establishment of SAP’s Global CoE for Asset-Intensive Industries (AII) in Australia late last year reinforced the German software’s thrust on driving innovation and digital transformation of enterprises in oil and gas, chemicals, utilities, and mining business. With a customer base that represents 97{8bf2b29f36318f0ac46ab1cc03d7035abce669a1cea16c9ed62389a818fa22fd} of the mining sector and 54{8bf2b29f36318f0ac46ab1cc03d7035abce669a1cea16c9ed62389a818fa22fd} of the utilities sector alone, SAP’s commitment to helping enterprises in the asset-intensive sector remains steadfast.
SAP recognises that as companies in the asset-intensive sector move forward with digitalisation, they face complex challenges along the transformation journey. One of which is managing the external workforce that are usually on separate contracts to perform ad hoc maintenance and project work.
To help address enterprises’ challenges in managing contractors and multiple work projects in the asset-intensive industries, SAP Fieldglass announced the general availability of SAP Fieldglass Assignment Management. The new external workforce management solution streamlines the process of managing contractors performing ad hoc work under existing supplier agreements and eliminates the complexity of disparate systems.
Tailor Fit for the Asset-Intensive Industries
The SAP Fieldglass Assignment Management software enables enterprises in the asset-intensive industries that heavily rely on contractors for multiple ad hoc projects to centrally deploy, manage, and pay external resources across all facilities for all types of projects. The solution drives operational excellence by empowering enterprises to quickly onboard multiple external workers, assign to one or more job orders, review hours with integrated time tracking, and create a service entry sheet that integrates with their ERP.
The new SAP Fieldglass solution simplifies the administration of work under existing umbrella supplier agreements. After using digital checklists to verify resource selections that match the right qualifications and certifications for a specific job, next is simply assigning one or multiple resources from a resource pool as per schedule. Work and paytables have also been predefined to simplify coding in a single timesheet rather than in multiple sheets per order.
Here are some of the key capabilities of SAP Fieldglass Assignment Management that would bring significant value to enterprises in the asset-intensive industries:
- Visibility to improve cost control and results
- Flexibility to increase speed and productivity
- Confidence to manage compliance and security risks
SAP Fieldglass General Manager Arun Srinivasan explained the importance of having visibility into the external workforce operations, especially that a portion of business spend on the external labour continues to grow. He said:
“SAP Fieldglass Assignment Management enables organisations to better control their costs with a highly configurable, integrated tool. Businesses in asset-intensive industries can be confident that highly skilled contractors have access to the right facilities to complete the critical maintenance work while ensuring billing is done accurately and labor regulations, including worker safety, are followed.”
The SAP Fieldglass Assignment Management solution expands the service engagement channels provided within the broader application. Customers do not need to license the SAP Fieldglass Contingent Workforce Management, SAP Fieldglass Services Procurement, or SAP Fieldglass Worker Profile Management applications to use the new SAP Fieldglass platform.
