SAP has introduced the SAP Asset Intelligence Network and SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service solutions to provide equipment manufacturers, service providers and asset operators with the capabilities they need to succeed in the asset management landscape.

This sector is currently being transformed by the Internet of Things  (IoT).

“We are now at a point where business challenges such as balancing cost, risk and performance meet technology enablers like in-memory analytics and cloud-based platforms for collaboration to initiate a quantum leap in operational excellence,” said Hans Thalbauer, senior vice president, extended supply chain, SAP.

“Connectivity across the Internet of Things is helping machines talk to business information systems, and our new offerings provide the network and ability to take insight to outcome, creating a completely new digital asset lifecycle,” he added.

SAP Asset Intelligence Network provides a single, secure, cloud-based global register of model and equipment information for consistent and efficient inter- and intra-company data sharing. Using SAP S/4HANA, the network provides both the collaboration platform and the business context for predictive maintenance and service. According to SAP, the network improves operational efficiency by enabling organisations to share advanced analytics trend data, with notifications of imminent shortfalls or failures provided to both manufacturers and operators.

SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service uses predictive analytics on the SAP HANA platform to help businesses wade through vast amounts of sensor and smart asset data, gain valuable insights, and use them to decrease maintenance and service costs while increasing asset availability and reliability.
