Major changes to the SAP management team in Australia and New Zealand have recently been made. Two key appointments include Phil Cameron taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Pete Andrew being promoted as the inaugural Head of Industries for SAP ANZ.

Riding on the momentum of its Q4 and full-year financial results underpinned by a strong cloud business, SAP has recently announced new executive appointments to continue to be at the forefront of business innovation and further strengthen its management team in ANZ. The German tech giant stated that Cameron and Andrew’s new roles are aimed at improving the customer experience and providing greater value to businesses.

Emphasising the company’s “bold ambitions” for the year ahead, SAP ANZ President and Managing Director Damien Bueno said:

“Creating the Head of Industries role and broadening the breadth of the ANZ leadership team is a significant strategic investment in delivering for our customers and furthering our cloud ambitions.”

Strengthening SAP ANZ’s Business

In 2015, tech industry veteran Cameron returned to SAP Australia and was responsible for the company’s relationship with the New South Wales (NSW) Government. Since 2018, he has served as Managing Director of SAP New Zealand and has played a significant role in the growth of the business and customer operations in the country. According to SAP, they are currently in the process of finding Cameron’s replacement as MD.

“Under Phil’s leadership, SAP New Zealand has achieved phenomenal growth, capped off with an outstanding 2021 performance,” Bueno added.

Moreover, Cameron intends to drive customer success through effective partnership and sponsorship in his new position as COO for SAP ANZ. Sharing more about the latest development in his career, Cameron highlighted:

“My focus as COO Australia and New Zealand will be on continuing to drive business momentum and streamline how we operate, to better serve current, new, and prospective customers. I’m thrilled for what 2022 will bring and look forward to delivering more incredible results.”

Expanding the SAP Management Team

Meanwhile, Andrew’s promotion as Head of Industries will foster more collaboration among SAP ANZ’s various lines of business — including the company’s Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering RISE with SAP — in order to help simplify each customer’s journey to the cloud and equip them with the right solutions to accelerate digital transformation. Considering his proven experience as former COO and his commitment to driving better customer outcomes with the SAP partner ecosystem, Bueno believes Cameron is an ideal leader to take on the inaugural role.

“As we continue our focus on cloud, through our RISE with SAP solution, Pete’s experience will be critical to us achieving the growth targets we have set ourselves,” Bueno remarked.

Since 2005, Andrew has worked in different roles across SAP’s consulting and product lines. While serving as COO for SAP ANZ, which he began in 2017, Andrew was responsible for overseeing operations for the cloud transformation of the company’s business and forging strong relationships with customers and partners. Commenting on his new appointment, Andrew said:

“By focusing on our cloud strategy and ensuring deep collaboration across SAP and our partners, I am confident that we will be able to help even more organisations across ANZ, no matter their industry, accelerate their move to the cloud and, ultimately, improve the agility and resilience of their operations.”

Last month, the German enterprise software giant also named Susanna Hasenoehrl as Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of Sustainability for Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ). Aside from bolstering SAP’s portfolio of sustainability-specific products and solutions, the newly established role is geared towards assisting customers and partners in achieving their strategic environmental goals while adhering to regulatory requirements.
