SAP has announced plans to acquire the Roambi suite of mobile business intelligence solutions.
According to a statement, SAP has been focused on providing access to analytics, especially when travelling or working remotely, to all parts of the workforce.
Roambi is a mobile-centric analytics and data visualisation solution that providers users with easy-to-use solutions that can retrieve relevant data anytime and anywhere. In addition to its Analytics application for visualisation, Roambi also offers Blink, a data discovery tool, and Flow, which allows users to create rich publications that place content around visualisations of data.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“The old analytics strategy-to-execution loop is not real time, agile or democratic enough to adjust to digital realities,” said Steve Lucas, president, digital enterprise platform, SAP.
“SAP, a global leader in analytics, has completely changed the game and is now delivering a broad set of consumer-grade analytics solutions at enterprise scale across every industry and line of business. SAP aims to deliver all-in-one analytics for everyone, available in the cloud and on premise, designed to be ubiquitous and real time — something niche players in the analytics space cannot offer.”
SAP has also announced new capabilities for SAP Predictive Analytics, planned for availability “in the near future”, and will offer a special trade-in promotion to allow users to swap desktop tools from other vendors for SAP Cloud for Analytics.
The new 2.5 version of SAP Predictive Analytics will include native Spark modelling, to enable increased performance when analysing data in Hadoop-based environments, and other features, such as ensemble modelling and tighter integration with libraries for SAP HANA, designed to increase data scientists’ productivity and performance.
