SAPPHIRE NOW: Machine learning to tackling diversity and gender equity

A new initiative within the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite will use text mining and machine learning based on the HANA platform to guide companies in reviewing job descriptions, performance reviews and other people processes for potential bias, and suggesting changes to encourage equity.

These new capabilities will sit alongside existing SuccessFactors offerings that help to address inequity, such as reports focused on diversity and inclusion to help organisations identify gaps or biases in their talent acquisition and management processes, including recruiting and compensation.

“Diverse teams are high performing teams,” said Mike Ettling, president of SAP SuccessFactors. “Today’s innovations, and those to come, are designed to help companies find and address opportunities to build inclusive cultures, prompting managers and HR professionals to make intentional decisions as they attract, hire, develop, reward and promote people.”

The announcement was made at SAPPHIRE NOW in Orlando this week.

SAP recently launched a new Diversity and Inclusion Customer Advisory Group, with customers such as New York Life, Royal Bank of Canada, and Varian Medical Systems coming together to examine how technology can be used to support inclusiveness, with an initial focus on gender equity.

“We are continuously implementing new initiatives to promote diversity within our own workforce, and I’m excited for the coming SAP SuccessFactors solutions. With our technology, we can help impact societal change and truly improve people’s lives.”
