SAPPHIRE NOW: SAP in new collaboration with Google

SAP CEO Bill McDermott used his opening keynote at SAPPHIRE NOW in Orlando to announce a new collaboration with Google in the areas of enterprise mobility, business analytics and business applications.

SAP is working with Google to provide a seamless experience using its Apps product and SAP Lumira. Its Sheets product can be combined with enterprise data through the SAP Lumira extensions framework to create visualisations and dashboards in Lumira, and in the future, users will be able to save these visualisations and infographics to be saved, accessed and shared in Google Drive, encouraging collaboration amongst teams.

The collaboration will see SAP business applications integrated with Google productivity applications, starting with two key areas of SuccessFactors HCM and SAP Fiori. SuccessFactors users will be able to use Drive as a document repository for working with HR documents, improving collaboration and simplifying employee document management, while the SAP Fiori apps experience within the Google Apps productivity suite will be expanded. For example, customers will be able to initiate actions on their Apps services within the Fiori UX, such as storing a business document in Drive from within SAP Fiori.

SAP has previously announced its support for Google’s Android for Work platform via SAP Mobile Secure.

Calling the partnership “a prime example of SAP’s change agenda”, McDermott said, “If it makes it easier for people to use Google tools and SAP data together on their devices, that will make work life better.”
