Former SAP and Concur executive Steve Singh, now chairman and CEO at Docker, has brought former colleague Robert Enslin onto the company’s Board of Directors.
Enslin, who is currently president of SAP’s Cloud Business Group and a member of the SAP Executive Board, has been appointed to help to guide and accelerate Docker’s business growth, as it aims to deliver a new generation of container platform tools and technologies for enterprise customers.
On the appointment, Singh said, “At Docker, we have an enormous immediate opportunity to help businesses modernise their traditional applications. Rob’s experience brings unparalleled contributions to the board and will help drive customer acquisition and open up new markets. His knowledge of the Global 10K market and what it takes to support and grow to meet the needs of this market is unparalleled. Docker has already attracted hundreds of Global 2000 companies such as ADP, Intuit and MetLife to use its flagship container platform, Docker Enterprise Edition (EE), and other offerings to modernise legacy applications without touching the source code and optimise infrastructure.

In his Executive Board role at SAP, Enslin is responsible for providing direct input into the company’s extensive solution portfolio to scale and drive SAP’s long-term business strategy. Time will tell what role, if any, Docker might play in that strategy – though there is no question dealing with legacy applications is a major pain point faced by many SAP customers.
