Winners of the SAP HANA Innovation Awards announced

At SAPPHIRE NOW last week, SAP announced the 2015 winners of the HANA Innovation Awards.

The awards showcased innovative projects leveraging the SAP HANA Platform, ranging from optimising and simplifying core SAP business processes, enabling self-service analytics on big data, to creating new business models driven by Internet of Things scenarios – all realised through the capabilities of the SAP HANA platform.

The winners were:

Business Scenario Stream

Analytics Wizard: Dell Inc
Process Simplifier: ConAgra Foods:
Technology Trailblazer: Walmart

Business Application Stream

Analytics Wizard: Hinduja Tech
Process Simplifier: Asian Paints

Technology Trailblazer: Molecular Health

Dell rolled out the new BMS system powered by the SAP HANA platform to 14,000 sales employees, who can now drill down into the system, better predict when sales with close or organise their sales territories more efficiently in order to ensure better customer coverage. They can run self-service analytics in minutes rather than weeks and get analytics reports 60 per cent faster than before.

Gaining more insight into their business was also the focus of ConAgra’s HANA project. Needing more accurate forecast of product demand to better understand future costs and maximise profit, the company partnered with SAP to co-innovate on a Total Margin Management (TMM) solution that provides costs at the lowest level of granularity, and the forecasting capabilities to model scenarios to better predict the future. Users can now quickly perform iterative scenarios and ‘what if’ forecasting which increases the reliability of the margin forecast and produces a single forecast leveraged across all segments, while simultaneously creating a forecast that is risk-adjusted and applicable to multiple business areas.
