Kony Solutions to acquire Sky Technologies

By Anne Widjaja

Kony Solutions has announced that it will acquire SAP mobility-solutions provider Sky Technologies, to simplify its enterprise mobility offering to SAP customers.

The acquisition will integrate Sky’s mobility expertise and its base of SAP mobile customers with Kony’s mobile and multichannel application platform and solutions. Sky and Kony will also work together to build a new mobility solution that will accelerate time to revenue and time to market for B2C and B2E applications.

Sky Technologies has more than 200 customers currently using its technology to mobilise SAP in B2E applications.  Sky customers include some of the world’s leading consumer products and professional services companies, such as Konica Minolta, Schweppes, Toyota, WA Water Corporation and Carl Zeiss.

Kony’s acquisition of Sky will enable the company to expand its services into the financial services, retail, transport, utilities and manufacturing sectors. Together, the companies will have more than 200 customers with B2C and B2E deployments across multiple industries.

Adding to Kony’s existing strategic partnerships with Accenture, Cognizant and IBM, the company plans to operate mobility centers in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

On the acquisition, Raj Koneru, CEO of Kony Solutions, said, “This move makes Kony Solutions the undisputed mobile and multichannel application platform leader, with a strong roster of customers of all sizes, across multiple industries and regions.”

Koneru also remarked that the acquisition would transform Kony into a one-stop-shop for mobility solutions. “By combining forces with Sky, Kony enables our customers to partner with a single provider for all their mobility and multichannel needs,” Koneru said. “Our mobile solutions not only manage the mobile demands of millions of consumers who want to interact with a brand on the go, across a myriad of devices, but also the complex requirements of the workforce.”

Troy O’Connor, CEO and co-founder of Sky Technologies said that Sky and Kony made “a compelling combination”. O’Connor commented that the acquisition was “great news” for Australian and international customers looking for “innovative multichannel and mobile solutions”, and that the acquisition “also extends our existing offering to Sky customers who want to mobilize their Siebel, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Sharepoint and other non-SAP environments”.

Dominique Fisher, chairman of Sky Technologies, also believes that Kony’s acquisition was a “testament to the strength and innovation of its home-grown and funded Australian team.”

“We can all be very proud that a high-quality Australian technology company will now merge technologies with one of the most exciting global companies in the mobile space,” Fisher said.
