Rev-Trac 7, the newly released version of Melbourne-based Revelation Software Concepts’ (RSC) SAP Change Control Automation solution, has introduced five key features designed to meet the needs of business for accelerated delivery of software enhancements.
“SAP business users are calling for changes to the way software enhancements are being delivered. The historical method of the big ‘go live’ once or twice per year with an extensive and lengthy hypercare period following, is no longer palatable,” said David Drake, chief executive officer and founder, RSC.
Key features of the phase 1 release of Rev-Trac 7 include:
A newly-designed UI – The new-look UI is responsive, improving usability on multiple devices and has increased functionality, consolidating many previous add-on features.
Mobile access – The HTML-based single point of remote entry uses the RSC Core VM to provide authorised users with secure access from any web-capable device. It also enables remote capabilities including mobile change approvals, change request documentation and reporting.
Release management – The new release simplifies attaching a new change request to as few as two clicks, from as many as 11 previously, meaning release management can now take up to 80 per cent less time.
Release preparation – Rev-Trac 7 automates release preparation by formally introducing the Rev-Trac Release, which treats types of requests with specified attributes in specified ways. Rev-Trac Request Type determines what changes a release can hold and simplifies previously onerous preparation.
Release Workbench – Release Workbench employs drag and drop functionality to display requests on the left and all applicable changes on the right. Reference links are created dynamically and any transports on a change are copied into the release. The process also works bi-directionally to simplify removing a change from a release if required. The Release Workbench is integrated into the existing Rev-Trac change transport workbench to enable easy drill down for details. The Release Workbench also allows users direct access to perform a Rev-Trac OOPS check.
“Rev-Trac 7’s systematic simplification and feature consolidation makes releases faster, safer, and more easily accessed for management,” said Rick Porter, vice president, business development, RSC.
