SAP has released the latest version of its SAP Afaria Mobile Device
Management Solution, which enhances iOS and Android device management
and the platform’s enterprise mobile app portal.
“Our main goal is to enhance application management and the ecosystem
for enterprise integration, and support existing platforms,” said Bryan
Whitmarsh, SAP’s mobility product manager, in an interview with RCR
Wireless News.
The latest version includes deeper directory integration, enhanced email
access control and device remediation, and expanded PKI certificate
management.
To address the growing use of enterprise mobile apps, SAP will include
new app and self-service portal designs to provide a familiar,
consumer-like app portal experience in the enterprise.
“We are enhancing the enterprise experience with the very direct goal of
enabling a million devices. That’s why the mobile experience is a
priority,” said Whitmarsh.
Mobility is a key driver for SAP’s growth in the future, with the
company acknowledging that they are relying on mobile platforms to reach
its global strategy of one billion solution users by 2015.
“In our recent report on the mobile enterprise management (MEM) market,
IDC recommends that enterprises evaluate mobile solutions that both
manage and secure devices and mobile applications,” said Stacy Crook,
program manager, mobile enterprise research at IDC.
In the report, IDC notes that SAP is a market leader in mobility with a 16.4 per cent share.
IDC predicts that the MEM market will increase at a 31.8 per cent compound annual growth rate, reaching $1.8 billion by 2016.
