SAP Labs France, the research and development subsidiary of global enterprise software giant SAP, has taken a significant stride in the realm of artificial intelligence with the inauguration of its first AI customer experience center. The center, unveiled at the SAP EMEA Partner AI event, aims to provide customers with an immersive environment to interact with, experiment, and explore the potential applications of AI within their respective industries.

Established in 1998, SAP Labs France has been at the forefront of technological innovation, housing a team of 450 dedicated professionals working on cutting-edge research and development projects. The subsidiary’s focus spans across various domains, including new revenue models, energy transition, responsible AI, cyber security, and advanced customer support. As a founding member of the International Consortium for Anti-Infective Research (ICAIR) and a supporter of the 3IA Interdisciplinary Institute for Artificial Intelligence, SAP Labs France has consistently demonstrated its commitment to advancing AI technologies and sharing best practices within the field.

Empowering Businesses with AI

The newly launched AI customer experience center serves as a testament to SAP’s vision of empowering businesses to harness the potential of artificial intelligence. By offering visitors the opportunity to engage with concrete applications of AI across diverse sectors such as retail, manufacturing, energy transition, cyber security, and even art, the center aims to inspire and facilitate the identification of potential use cases specific to each customer’s business.

Stefan Steinle, executive vice president of customer support at SAP, emphasized the significance of the AI customer experience center in showcasing the company’s latest innovations and the engagement of its employees with AI technologies. He further highlighted the growing demand from customers seeking SAP’s expertise in leveraging AI to drive top-shelf innovations and streamline the process of innovation discovery.

One of the key highlights of the AI customer experience center is the introduction of SAP’s new AI assistant, Joule. Launched in September 2023, Joule is designed to simplify the user experience across all SAP systems and their extensions. By integrating AI capabilities, Joule aims to enhance user interactions, streamline processes, and provide intelligent assistance to SAP users, ultimately improving efficiency and productivity.

SAP Labs France Expands AI Innovation Globally

While the AI customer experience center is currently based at SAP Labs France in Sophia Antipolis, one of Europe’s largest technology clusters, SAP is actively considering replicating this model in emerging markets, including Africa. Dr Jean-Christophe Pazzaglia, sustainability officer and AI centre lead at SAP Labs France, acknowledged the potential for expanding the AI center’s reach, although concrete plans have not yet been finalized.

The establishment of the AI customer experience center marks a significant milestone for SAP Labs France and the wider SAP ecosystem. By providing a dedicated space for customers to explore and experience the transformative power of AI, SAP further aims to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies across industries and drive innovation on a global scale.

As businesses increasingly recognize the value of AI in enhancing customer experiences, optimizing operations, and driving growth, SAP Labs France’s AI customer experience center is also poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of enterprise software and empowering organizations to leverage the full potential of artificial intelligence.
