The Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has recently announced the successful implementation of a comprehensive SAP deployment aimed at modernizing its business processes and enhancing its environmental performance. This strategic move underscores SIRC’s commitment to advancing the circular economy and supporting the National Waste Management Framework in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Established in 2017, SIRC has been at the forefront of promoting sustainable waste management practices and driving investments in the circular economy. The company’s mission is closely aligned with the environmental and sustainability objectives outlined in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. By developing, owning, operating, and financing various waste management activities across the Kingdom, SIRC plays a pivotal role in conserving natural resources and fostering a more sustainable future.

SIRC’s collaboration with SAP, a global technology company, began in 2022 with the adoption of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Building upon this foundation, SIRC and its subsidiaries, including Akam and Reviva, have successfully deployed additional SAP solutions such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Ariba, and SAP SuccessFactors. The implementation of these solutions is set to extend to several other subsidiaries in the near future, further strengthening SIRC’s digital capabilities.

Sultan Saud Alsaif, Executive Director of Technology & Innovation at SIRC, emphasized the importance of partnering with investors and collaborators who share a genuine commitment to supporting the environment. He explained that the deployment of SAP solutions ensures efficient and productive operations, following industry best practices. The automation of business processes and data analysis through these solutions is expected to improve efficiencies and enhance the overall experience for all stakeholders involved.

Exploring Innovative Solutions through the MoU

In addition to the ongoing SAP deployment, SIRC and SAP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the creation of a Digital Transformation roadmap. This collaboration aims to enable SIRC to leverage new technologies and enhance its environmental performance and reporting capabilities. The MoU focuses on two strategic priorities for the current year: enhancing customer experience and exploring sustainability-focused solutions.

SIRC is considering the implementation of a next-generation CRM platform to elevate customer experience. Furthermore, the company is exploring how SAP’s portfolio of sustainability-focused solutions can be utilized to analyze and report on sustainability KPIs and its carbon footprint. These initiatives demonstrate SIRC’s proactive approach to leveraging technology for environmental protection and sustainability reporting.

Dr. Fahd Nawwab, Vice President of SAP Saudi Arabia, highlighted the significance of SIRC’s role as the driving force behind circular economy investments in the Kingdom. He emphasized the importance of having future-proof, scalable, and intelligent spend and human resource management solutions seamlessly integrated into SIRC’s existing SAP landscape. Dr. Nawwab also noted the alignment of values between SAP and SIRC, with sustainability being core to SAP’s corporate strategy and purpose.

Optimizing Procurement with SAP Deployment

The SAP Ariba portfolio, deployed by SIRC, offers a comprehensive spend management system with integrated supplier information, lifecycle, performance, and risk management functions. This solution enables SIRC to manage its procurement processes intelligently, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Meanwhile, the SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite provides SIRC with a robust HR software solution, encompassing core HR and payroll, talent management, HR analytics, workforce planning, and employee experience management. By leveraging these tools, SIRC aims to engage its employees effectively and foster a productive work environment.

SIRC’s comprehensive SAP deployment represents a significant milestone in its journey towards advancing the circular economy and supporting the National Waste Management Framework in Saudi Arabia. As SIRC continues to drive investments in sustainable waste management practices and leverage cutting-edge technologies, it sets a strong example for organizations across the Kingdom in promoting a greener and more sustainable future. The successful SAP deployment and ongoing collaboration with SAP underscore SIRC’s commitment to making a positive impact on the environment while driving operational excellence.
