IT services provider Sopra Steria and cloud computing company OVHcloud have joined forces to deliver SAP applications using a demonstrator that can cater to a diverse range of business needs, all within a secure and reliable cloud environment.

Last month, OVHcloud’s latest datacenter, known as SBG5, opened in Strasbourg, France. The Roubaix-headquartered cloud provider has committed to building 15 data centers by 2024 as part of its long-term plan to provide cutting-edge Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions to its customers within a scalable and sustainable landscape.

Earlier this year, OVHcloud also became a SAP-certified provider in cloud and infrastructure operations across all of its European data centers. It is worth noting that the regional certification was done so that the company could more easily and quickly deploy SAP environments in its cloud platform. Integrators and cloud service providers are working together to speed up the development process by providing a solution that is readily available, reliable, and secured.

Furthermore, the accreditation also helps OVHcloud provide for its customers’ demands by guaranteeing that SAP environments stored in its data centers in Europe and on its Tailored Data Center Integration-compliant physical servers for SAP HANA database hosting are both secure and efficient. European SAP Partners and enterprises that make use of SAP solutions can now utilize OVHcloud’s high-performance hardware to develop SAP-qualified, partner-packaged offerings, such as those needed to roll out SAP S/4HANA.

Hosting SAP Applications in the Cloud Environment

With hosting provided by OVHcloud, Paris-headquartered tech consulting company Sopra Steria has recently announced the launch of an SAP S/4HANA deployment tool on a SecNumCloud platform. The public sector, OIVs, OSEs, and any other business that is observant of its data sovereignty obligations may use this prototype to meet its accounting and financial reporting requirements. The continued collaboration between the two French groups demonstrates their commitment to provide organizations with reliable cloud hosting for SAP applications serving a wide variety of use cases.

According to Rudolf Scheipers, Vice President and Head of SAP Certification for Outsourcing Partners, the transition to the cloud has accelerated in the last several years. He elaborated on SAP’s “cloud first” strategy, saying it is the company’s clear focus at the moment. From the standpoint of partners, Scheipers said, it is possible to orchestrate SAP solutions alongside those of third parties, as well as cloud, hybrid, and on-premise options.

“We currently see a lot of these hybrid scenarios as a first step towards the cloud movement. It is an ability that the partners have to be able to manage, together with a consulting approach where customers need trust in their service providers to be guided towards their movement to the cloud,” he further explained.

At the 2022 French SAP users’ conference, which will be called “Utilisateurs SAP Francophones” and will take place on October 5 and 6, 2022 in Lyon, France, Sopra Steria and OVHcloud will present their functional demonstrator for the German enterprise software giant’s intelligent enterprise resource planning (ERP) system SAP S/4HANA.

In a statement, OVHcloud Chief Sales Officer Sylvain Rouri stated that the close partnership that the firm has with its partners is demonstrating to them the opportunities that are presented by an integrated business application that is hosted in a reliable European cloud. In addition, he said that the first demonstrator is intended to assist firms in projecting themselves in the execution of their financial operations using SAP S/4HANA and Sopra Steria on OVHcloud.

“We want this tool to facilitate and speed up decision-making by companies and the public sector, in order to secure their strategic data on infrastructures qualified by the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) as SecNumCloud,” Rouri remarked.
