SAP and cloud solutions specialist Zag has been consistently recognised as an SAP channel partner winning last year’s SAP Best Run Awards ANZ – Best Run Digital Supply Chain and Best Run CRM & Customer Experience. Recently, Zag’s Hydro Tasmania project was recognised as a finalist for the Australian Reseller News Innovation Awards – Partner Value, Customer Value (winners will be announced in December 2020).
After leading the successful modernisation project of Australia’s leading clean energy business and the largest generator of renewable energy Hydro Tasmania, New Zealand-based Zag made the headlines once again. Accenture, a leading global professional services company, has recently acquired SAP and cloud solutions specialist Zag.
Formerly know as Soltius, Zag is a premier SAP, cloud and spatial consultancy across Australia and New Zealand with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne. Aside from being the first support services in New Zealand to be certified as an SAP Centre of Expertise, Zag is also the only NZ SAP partner to have won a global SAP innovation award. The SAP specialist currently employs 200 in A/NZ offering consulting, development, support, testing, and cloud migration.
Strengthening Accenture’s A/NZ Presence
With Zag becoming part of Accenture, the global company is positioned to boost its A/NZ capabilities to support organisations migrating to the cloud and SAP’s next-generation products. As for Zag, the acquisition is foreseen to propel the tech firm’s ability to deliver end-to-end digital and business transformation for its A/NZ customers while maintaining strong relationships and its award-winning culture.
Ben Morgan, Accenture New Zealand Managing Director, commented that the acquisition is a reflection of Accenture’s commitment to bringing new thinking, talent, and innovation to its clients across the region. He stated:
“By pairing Accenture’s global expertise with Zag’s local talent and insight, this acquisition will strengthen our ability to help clients accelerate their business transformation using SAP and Cloud technologies delivering more value from the new platforms.”
Sharing on Zag’s journey, Nick Mulcahy, Zag’s CEO, said:
“Zag has grown from an idea to a thriving business that has helped over 100 organisations to become stronger, safer, and more prosperous through the best possible use of technology, tailored to their specifications.
Since 1996, Zag has led the SAP market in New Zealand through our drive to think creatively, the close relationships we build with our customers, and our firm belief that our people are our strength. The combination of Accenture and Zag is a great opportunity for our clients and teams, and we look forward to offering an unrivalled SAP offering.”
According to Scott Hahn, Accenture Australia and New Zealand technology lead, Accenture will be able to expand its local technology offerings with Zag’s expertise in cloud and SAP solutions’ delivery for a wide range of complex businesses.
“Their extensive expertise and knowledge further deepen our networks and capabilities to meet the anticipated growth in demand for SAP and cloud services and we are delighted to welcome them to the team,” Hahn further said.
Accenture’s Recent Ventures
Accenture has been investing in the A/NZ region with acquisitions of Apis Group, Analytics8, and BCT Solutions in 2019. This year alone, prior to Zag’s, the consulting firm has also acquired data analytics and supply chain management company Icon Integration and business strategy and econometrics firm AlphaBeta.
Zag is just one of Accenture’s notable ‘cloud’ ventures. In September, the consultancy firm launched Accenture Cloud First, a US$3 billion investment to help clients rapidly become “cloud-first” businesses. It is a new multi-service group of 70,000 cloud professionals that brings together the full power and breadth of Accenture’s industry and technology capabilities, ecosystem partnerships, and deep commitment to learning and upskilling clients’ employees and responsible business.
