Manhattan Associates seeks to level playing field in retail

Supply chain commerce provider, Manhattan Associates, is looking to level the playing field between online shopping and brick-and-mortar retail locations with their Omni-Channel Store solutions, delivering the increased personalisation, convenience and agility that retailers need to meet the evolving needs of today’s shoppers.

“The digitally-enabled customer has upped the ante on what today’s retail store associate needs to deliver,” said Raghav Sibal, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Manhattan Associates. “As long as a shopper’s smartphone can provide greater access to the information they care about compared to a store associate’s legacy technology, the retailer will remain at a disadvantage to the online channel.”

The Omni-Channel Store offers what Manhattan says is the most comprehensive store selling, service and fulfilment suite on the market:

  • The clienteling solution provides a holistic view of a customer’s purchases, returns and wish lists across channels to enable retailers to personalise future sales.
  • The point of sale solution enables store associates to sell to customers anywhere in the store, from all available network inventory.
  • The store inventory solution improves inventory accuracy while increasing the efficiency of replenishments and reducing out-of-stocks.
  • The store fulfilment solution enables store associates to pick and pack orders for pickup or shipping without specialised training, minimising the risk of losing a sale even during peak selling events.
  • The tablet retailing solution allows retailers to provide enterprise data to screens of nearly any size throughout the store, allowing for extended aisle catalogues that can be enhanced with promotional materials including video.

“The solutions allow retailers to build their own store modernisation roadmap based on a common set of technologies to lower total cost of ownership and increase speed of deployment,” said Sibal.

Manhattan Associates will be demonstrating the Omni-Channel Store solutions at Online Retailer’s Future Store feature zone. The theme of the event, which will be held 20 to 21 July 2016 at Sydney’s Royal Hall of Industries & Hordern Pavilion, is ‘Where the Future Meets Retail’.

Manhattan solutions integrate with SAP ERP systems. In Australia, SAP customer Super Retail Group has implemented Manhattan’s Warehouse Management solution.
