Lloyd Adams has been appointed as the new SAP North America President and will be responsible for formulating the corporate strategy, overseeing business processes, managing people, boosting sales and services, and ensuring profitability across the tech giant’s operations in the United States and Canada.

In the second quarter of 2022, organizations of all sizes in North America continued to adopt RISE with SAP — the company’s Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) signature cloud offering — at a strong rate, helping customers drive their cloud transformations. The RISE with SAP solution assists businesses in taking advantage of the benefits of the cloud by providing them with access to best-in-class software, services, and support.

Speaking about the company’s recent financial performance, John DiPlacido, Chief Financial Officer at SAP North America, noted that they continued to experience double-digit growth in cloud sales, a stable support business, and solid bookings fueled by a good balance of current and new customers. He went on to say that SAP anticipated the intelligent enterprise resource planning (ERP) system SAP S/4HANA, the SAP Business Process Transformation portfolio, the SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite, and SAP Concur products to play key roles in the ongoing transformation of the company’s clients.

Riding on the momentum of SAP’s growth in the region, the company recently appointed Lloyd Adams as the new President of SAP North America to take its continued success into the next era. In his new role, Adams will be responsible for driving SAP North America’s strategy and operations to accelerate the company’s growth in one of its most important markets. Under his leadership, the business will build on its strong foundation to continue delivering value to customers and partners across every industry.

SAP Customer Success and Member of the Executive Board Scott Russell stated that throughout the course of the past 24 years, Adams has played a key role in the transformation of SAP in North America, whether in senior sales positions or overseeing the development of marketing initiatives for the business. He added:

“He has built a reputation for being a champion of high-performance culture, an advocate for inclusivity across our workforce and a catalyst for innovation in support of our customers’ success. We are confident his appointment will be pivotal to the continued growth and acceleration of SAP’s long-term success.”

Adams began working with SAP in 1998 and has since held a variety of leadership positions in presales, inside sales, and marketing in the Americas and Asia. Formerly, Adams oversaw the East area of the US as Managing Director for SAP North America. In this role, he was accountable for the region’s strategic direction, customer success, profitability, and overall leadership.

Additionally, Adams takes over for DJ Paoni, who served as President of SAP North America for five years and was responsible for a significant expansion of the company’s revenue, client base, and sales force. “Humbled and honored” to have the opportunity to serve the team in SAP North America as President, effective September 1, Adams shared in a LinkedIn post:

“For the last five years, we’ve experienced the culture formed under DJ Paoni’s leadership. We began a transformation of which we can all be proud, and I can confidently say we’re only just getting started.”

Adams also stated that the North American team has spent the last two years working together to provide the full suite of cloud migration solutions and tools required by their customers. He further said that SAP is pleased to have helped so many companies along their paths to becoming “best-run” enterprises. Organizations have been able to rely on SAP’s technologies and expertise to help them streamline their operations, improve their efficiencies, and better serve their customers.

“With so much global uncertainty, customers are turning to us now more than ever to help overcome the challenges they face, from sustainability to supply chain resilience and business model transformation. Driving our customers’ ongoing success remains the top priority for our team here in North America and our partner ecosystem,” he concluded.
