The implementation of RISE with SAP on Google Cloud empowers Qatar National Cement Company (QNNC) to harness the full potential of cloud computing, enabling the organization to scale its operations and enhance its services to customers and employees alike. By automating key workflows and utilizing advanced analytics capabilities, QNCC can gain valuable insights from its data, enabling informed decision-making and improved strategic planning.

Founded in 1965 by Emiri Decree, QNNC has emerged as a prominent player in the cement industry. With a rich legacy spanning several decades, QNNC has established itself as a leading producer of various construction materials, including ordinary Portland cement, sulphate resistant cement, hydrated lime, calcined lime, and washed sand. QNNC’s manufacturing units are strategically located in Umm Bab and Al-Boaadiat, two key regions in Qatar known for their abundant natural resources and favorable geographical positioning. These state-of-the-art facilities enable QNNC to efficiently produce and supply high-quality construction materials to meet the growing demands of Qatar’s booming construction industry.

As a major producer of ordinary Portland cement, QNNC plays a vital role in supporting Qatar’s infrastructure development. With this, the company decided to embark on an SAP transformation journey to enhance its operational efficiency, streamline business processes, and unlock new opportunities for growth. The decision to implement SAP solutions reflects QNNC’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry.

Implementing RISE with SAP on Google Cloud

QNCC, a prominent contributor to Qatar’s thriving construction industry, has entered into a strategic partnership with SAP and Mannai ICT, an implementation partner, to harness the advantages of cloud computing using the Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering RISE with SAP. Through this collaboration, QNCC aims to optimize its business operations by securely hosting its data on Google Cloud, leveraging the scalability, agility, and robust infrastructure provided by the platform.

As part of the implementation, QNCC will adopt SAP S/4HANA, the German tech giant’s cutting-edge enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. SAP S/4HANA empowers organizations with comprehensive visibility and control over their entire range of operations, facilitating efficient management of processes across various departments. By integrating this advanced ERP system, QNCC anticipates streamlining its workflows, enhancing productivity, and responding swiftly to market demands and customer needs.

Additionally, the partnership will introduce SAP SuccessFactors to QNCC, an innovative solution focused on employee management and development. By leveraging SuccessFactors, QNCC aims to revolutionize its human resources practices, enabling effective talent acquisition, performance management, and employee engagement. This will not only improve workforce productivity but also foster a culture of continuous growth and development within the organization.

With the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), the organization can unlock a wide range of innovative applications, extend its existing systems, and customize solutions to suit its unique requirements. This flexibility enables QNCC to adapt swiftly to evolving market dynamics, stay ahead of competitors, and deliver exceptional value to its stakeholders.

Partnering with the Tech Giants for Transformation

The decision to host mission-critical data on Google Cloud further strengthens QNCC’s sustainability strategy. Google Cloud is recognized as one of the cleanest clouds in the industry, emphasizing its commitment to environmentally friendly practices. By leveraging this platform, QNCC can align its operations with its sustainability goals, reducing its carbon footprint, and contributing to a greener future.

Speaking about Google Cloud’s involvement in the partnership, Ghassan Kosta, Qatar General Manager at Google Cloud, emphasized their dedication to supporting Qatar’s digital future and driving transformative digital initiatives. During the launch event for Google Cloud Doha region, Kosta highlighted that collaborating with Qatar’s largest cement manufacturer showcases their commitment to leveraging expertise and providing tailored, innovative solutions across all industries. Google Cloud aims to accelerate digital transformation for organizations, enabling them to embrace sustainability while achieving their business objectives.

Also sharing his comments on the latest partnership, Alaa Jaber, Managing Director of SAP Qatar and Fast Growth Markets, stated:

“Through this digital transformation, QNCC is aligning itself with Qatar’s 2030 National Vision and supporting its sustainability plans. It is also ensuring its future success by increasing its visibility over all operations, enabling it to react in an agile way to changes in the market and the expected rise in demand for its products. Moreover, QNCC will be able to make decisions informed by real-time insights and data analytics.”
