SAP SE has announced it has reached its board-level commitment made in 2011 to raise the total of female leaders in the company from 18 per cent to 25 per cent.
SAP’s board is continuing its pledge to increase women in leadership by 1 per cent every year, with goals of 28 per cent in 2020 and 30 per cent in 2022.
Though gender diversity is historically underrepresented in the technology industry, McKinsey & Co reports that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity are 15 per cent more likely to have financial returns above their respective national industry medians.
In the past year, SAP has signed the inaugural White House Tech Inclusion Pledge, became the first multinational technology company to achieve the EDGE gender equality certification, and diversified its Executive Board with the appointments of Jennifer Morgan and Adaire Fox-Martin.
“It is often said that what gets measured gets done,” said Aniela Unguresan, cofounder, EDGE Certified Foundation. “We applaud SAP for recognising that diversity and inclusion bring immense potential to lead teams in the technology industry. It has been a great pleasure to work with SAP.”
