The SAP Build Process Automation is now included in the RISE with SAP for S/4HANA Cloud, public edition at zero cost.
Following the recent launch of SAP Build, a unified low-code offering built on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), at SAP TechEd Las Vegas in November 2022, the German software giant has unveiled a new offering to elevate its customers’ automation programs, particularly those that lack tools or the technical knowledge to build solutions.
The new SAP Build Process Automation starter pack in the public edition of SAP S/4HANA Cloud enables customers to expedite, automate and augment enterprise applications in the new era of rapid digital transformation. Offered at no additional cost, the latest low-code solution in the SAP Build portfolio drives cost efficiencies, eliminates manual error, enhances customer satisfaction, and improves the decision-making process by harnessing the KPI process dashboard even without APIs.
Jonathan Rhodes, vice president of Solution Management for SAP Cloud ERP, explained that reducing manual intervention across the core business processes in an ERP significantly increases efficiency. On differentiating the benefits of the latest SAP offering, he emphasized that the story behind the solution is anchored on empowering employees across business functions to make business processes smoother. He said:
“But I think what’s most exciting about SAP Build Process Automation is that it puts the power of automation in the hands of the business users themselves. They’re the ones who work with the processes day in and day out, and they’re the ones most likely to know where the automation potential lies.”
SAP Build Process Automation for SAP S/4HANA Business Experts
SAP’s Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Executive Board, Juergen Mueller, stated at the SAP Build’s launch last year that the low-code tool integrates some of the world’s “most powerful” business software with a platform designed to unleash business users’ expertise in no time.
Business experts closest to SAP S/4HANA Cloud tasks are empowered not only to build processes and approvals but also to automate routine tasks with robotic process automation (RPA), and leverage built-in artificial intelligence (AI) for automatic data extraction of PDFs and excels among others. Harnessing the power of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, in which the low-code solution seamlessly integrates, business processes can significantly improve in terms of processing times and service quality including mitigating manual errors. Aside from helping organizations kickstart their automation journey, the new starter pack also champions collaboration among process experts and IT users.
As part of the RISE with SAP for S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, the new automation starter pack includes:
- 2 advanced users who can create workflows and build automations
- 20 standard users who can initiate and participate in workflows created by the advanced user
- 1 unattended automation that can be triggered without human intervention
“To jump-start automation with SAP Build Process Automation, customers have access to hundreds of free, pre-built automation features and tools designed specifically for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Our most common pre-built bot is one that automates the creation of sales orders from Excel,” Rhodes shared. “The bot scans the user’s inbox for sales order attachments and extracts the necessary data to create a sales order in SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Once complete, the bot notifies the appropriate sales team.”
He stressed that the inclusion of SAP Build Process Automation offers existing S/4HANA Cloud, public edition customers the opportunity to bring their standard business processes to “the next level of automation”. Rhodes mentioned Rehau, a provider of polymer-based solutions for construction, automotive and industry, as one of the first adopters of process automation with SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The North American company has automated the upload and processing of a multitude of finance and manufacturing documents in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, reducing days of manual work to minutes.
