A new strategic agreement between SUSE and AWS includes joint programs and investment areas that intend to help customers migrate their SAP landscapes to the cloud in a more seamless manner.
Aside from providing the security, stability, and scalability for which SAP is known, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been a long-term partner of the German enterprise software giant. These two firms have formed a strategic cloud alliance to give SAP clients the cutting-edge products and solutions they need to maintain a competitive edge, recruit and retain top talent, increase revenue, and speed up the transition to digital operations.
Meanwhile, German-headquartered SUSE is an industry-leading provider of open source solutions that are innovative and secure for enterprise use. According to the company, over 60% of the organizations that make up the Fortune 500 rely on it to support the most important aspects of their businesses. SUSE focuses on business-critical Linux, Edge and Enterprise Container Management solutions, collaborating with partners and communities to enable customers’ innovation globally.
Recently, AWS and SUSE have entered into a multi-year strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) to facilitate SAP customer migration to the AWS cloud platform. The strategic partnership between the two IT providers lays out deliverables and investment areas that will enable a more seamless transition of SAP landscapes to AWS for customers. Together, sales and marketing will collaborate on go-to-market efforts, such as channel enablement and training as well as the deployment of specialized staff in key regions throughout the world.
Commenting on the latest industry development, Kelly Collins, Global Head of Cloud for SUSE, explained that when it comes to Linux-based SAP solutions, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications is the go-to operating system platform because it provides a stable, easily managed, and highly available environment that helps save the time and energy required to roll out SAP landscapes.
“By deepening our collaboration with AWS and their top Global Systems Integrators, we are making a promise to our customers that we are committed to supporting their most mission-critical workloads being migrated and modernized on AWS,” Collins shared.
Deploying Customers’ SAP Landscapes to the Cloud
Kathleen Curry, Director of AWS Strategic Alliances, noted that the multi-year partnership will allow for greater marketing and co-selling campaigns to complement the respective technologies of AWS and SUSE. Curry further added:
“SUSE frequently leans in as an AWS collaborator, delivering SAP customers a seamless experience as they migrate operating systems from on-premises to AWS. Our work will help SAP customers modernize, shorten migration timelines, and accelerate time to value.”
Moreover, Harvey Building Products is one of the numerous customers that will benefit from the strategic partnership between SUSE and AWS. The privately held manufacturer of premium windows and doors places a high importance on innovation and the collaborative efforts of teams in order to facilitate the creation and delivery of outstanding products and solutions.
According to Rob Bencks, Vice President of IT at Harvey Building Products, the company has been able to optimize its approach for running its SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in a cloud environment that is stable, scalable, and secure thanks to the innovations that have been made possible by AWS and SUSE. Sharing his thoughts about the expanded agreement, Bencks said:
“We’re excited to see AWS and SUSE announce this Strategic Collaboration Agreement as they continue to expand their relationship and work to serve our enterprise even more effectively going forward.”
On the other hand, Christian Wissmann, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Protera, said that the company’s long-standing membership in the SUSE and AWS Partner Network (APN) and the subsequent Strategic Collaboration Agreement enables an even stronger commitment to their clients through the delivery of innovative tools and strategies that facilitate the rapid and risk-free migration of mission-critical applications to the cloud.
