Global enterprises — such as renewable energy technology company Siemens Energy AG — leverage SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud (SAP DMC) to help open the door to new ways of using their network for increased agility, transparency, and the realization of business models.

Munich, Germany-headquartered Siemens Energy AG offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and services that covers almost the entire energy value chain, from power generation to transmission and storage. Established in 2020 following the spin-off of the Siemens Group’s former gas and power division, the company has a long history of innovation from its parent company — dating back more than 150 years. The organization is a leading player in each of the segments it serves, providing its customers with cutting-edge technologies that boost efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

As one of the world’s leading electricity generation companies, Siemens Energy is committed to investing in cutting-edge technologies that will help it maintain its position at the forefront of the industry. This includes investing in SAP solutions, which are some of the most advanced and innovative tools available today. By staying ahead of the curve, Siemens Energy can continue to provide its customers with the highest quality products and services.

Siemens Energy’s recent announcement of a collaboration with Syntax to develop and install its new SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud (SAP DMC) infrastructure for more than 80 production locations worldwide is indicative of the company’s determination to make substantial investments in technology. This move will allow Siemens Energy to tap into Syntax’s expertise in designing and implementing SAP DMC systems, which will help the company to better compete in the global marketplace by having a more efficient and effective way to manage its production operations.

Tapping Syntax to Deploy SAP Solutions

In this year’s SAP Pinnacle Awards, Syntax was recognized as the Rising Star Winner for delivering significant customer value by utilizing SAP technologies. The company was chosen over other nominees, including Ayata Group and NUMEN, in recognition of its innovative solutions that help businesses run more efficiently. As a new partner, the Montréal, Quebec-based IT services provider has made a big impact in a short amount of time and is quickly becoming a leading provider of SAP-based solutions.

Aligned with its recently unveiled partnership with Siemens Energy, the SAP Partner will be responsible for carrying out the SAP DMC subscription arrangement for five pilot sites in Germany, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, Syntax will collect crucial process data for analysis, process mapping and implementation, and resource management across several facilities, which reflects the great variety of needs within Siemens Energy.

Syntax has extensive experience in a variety of industries and has shown multi-cloud capabilities, allowing them to deliver their clients’ optimal business solutions inside suitable SAP environments. Commenting on the latest deal with Siemens Energy, Ralf Sürken, CEO of Europe at Syntax, shared in a statement:

“We are very proud that Siemens Energy has chosen Syntax for this strategic and important global initiative. The combination of SAP know-how, industry experience, and global positioning that Syntax brings to the table is unique – especially with the addition of our recently-founded global Center of Excellence for Manufacturing and participation in global certification programs.”

Implementing SAP DMC Across Siemens Energy’s Global Sites

Siemens Energy will be able to benefit from  Syntax’s experience in manufacturing process integration during the SAP DMC implementation program, laying the groundwork for the eventual rollout of a digital factory in the form of a standardized framework. The Siemens Energy model, which is scheduled for completion by year’s end of 2023, will be implemented internationally over the course of seven years.

According to Matthias Hammes, IT Project Manager at Siemens Energy, Syntax was selected as a partner due to the company’s comprehensive approach to digital transformation, as well as its high level of competence and significant experience with projects connected to the SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud. By linking corporate office computer systems to manufacturing machinery, SAP DMC delivers complete plant-wide visibility.

Moreover, based on the principles of Industry 4.0, SAP DMC provides a means by which manufacturers may carry out manufacturing operations, evaluate manufacturing and business data, and integrate systems with minimal expenditure of time, money, and other resources.

“As an important part of our sustainable digitization strategy within the production areas, this project is of great strategic importance for Siemens Energy. Using the same systems at all production sites is the basis for notably better cooperation, protection against cybersecurity threats, and more efficient interests of the customer,” Hammes further explained.
